 This Week's Tip: Capture Your Share of Business for Brides, Grads and Dads
May and June bring three important gift-giving events that families love to celebrate: weddings, graduations and Father's Day. The opportunities are ripe for gift basket orders for these occasions if you act quickly.
1. Update your website with designs for these occasions.
2. Mail postcards to your customers inviting them to visit your website.
3. Follow up your mailing with phone calls.
4. Locate the wedding consultants in your area to offer your help with providing gifts.
5. Contact major hotels, churches and wedding chapels in your vicinity to find out which weddings are scheduled and get an appointment with the wedding coordinator. Many families come from out of town for weddings so gifts will be needed not only for the wedding rehearsal and bridesmaids, but also welcome to town gifts, and more.
6. College graduations begin in early May and often allow vendors to sell bouquets, floral leis and gift items at the ceremony. And most universities have more than one ceremony. My daughter's university had over 35 different ceremonies because of the many majors, degrees and ethnic groups represented.
7. Father's Day gifts have long ago moved away from the predictable tie, so learn about Dad's interests and preferences to design just the right gift for him.
