This Week's Tip: Take Advantage of the Home-Office Deduction
Tax season is over for this year, but in case you didn't take the home-office deduction you may do so next year. You just have to pass three tests.
1. Your business must be conducted in a room devoted exclusively to it. Working on your kitchen table doesn't count.
2. You must use this space regularly.
3. Your office must be one of the following: your main place of business, a place where you meet your customers or you use a separate structure of your business.
Consult your accountant for more details about this and any other deduction.
